Kunde (pronounced: kün-dey, spelled: ཀུན་བདེ།) Institute, a center for Tibetan wellness and healing, was founded by Doctor Yangdron Kalzang in 2004. The name “Kunde” was given to the center by her root teacher, Kenpo Troru Tsenam Rinpoche, one of the most highly respected scholars of traditional Tibetan Medicine in Tibet. In Tibetan, “Kunde” means “may all beings be healthy, wealthy and happy.” Dedicated to the mission of benefiting all people with affordable, integrative health services, Kunde offers a variety of traditional Tibetan and Asian medical modalities. Integrating Tibetan Medicine into Patient Care

This 4 day course presents basic and intermediate level Tibetan medicine theory and clinical practice. It will cover foundational theory, therapeutic treatments and herbal medicines. This course also presents Tibetan medicine philosophical view and mindfulness meditation for health and healing practice.
Healthcare practitoners including nurses and acupuncturists in the Bay Area serve a diverse patient population including many patients of Asian descent. In addition, there has been increased interest among the general population in alternative medicine and treatments including Tibetan, Chinese, Indian/Ayurvedic techniques and medicines. Practitioners would be well-served by being familiar with the theory and clinical practice of Tibetan medicine. They may be caring for clients who are undergoing Tibetan medicine treatments in addition to western medicine treatment and care for those who have expressed an interest in such alternative treatments. Tibetan medicine provides a holistic approach for health and healing including mindfulness meditation. Learning the basics of Tibetan medicine will allow practitioners to integrate this philosophy and these techniques into their practice.
